Short answer: Yes, you can sell on Amazon from Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is on Amazon's list of countries accepted for seller registration, and an LLC is not required. You open an account in Seller Central with a passport, an internationally chargeable credit card, a bank account and proof of address from the last 180 days. Payouts usually go to foreign account details issued by a service such as Payoneer.

Can you sell on Amazon from Azerbaijan?

Yes. Azerbaijan appears on Amazon's official list of countries accepted for seller registration in Seller Central. Amazon sets three conditions: you must be a resident of a listed country, have a working phone number and an internationally chargeable credit card. So an individual living in Baku can register as a seller on the US marketplace.

One account created through sell.amazon.com lets you sell in the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil stores; Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East need additional accounts. Most new sellers start with the US, because it has the most buyers and the widest set of services (FBA, ads, tools).

What documents do you need to open an Amazon seller account?

According to Amazon's official registration guide, you need a government-issued ID, an email address, an internationally chargeable credit card, a bank account, proof of address issued within the last 180 days and tax information. If you register a company, Amazon also asks for its registration document. Individuals do not need company documents.

Document or detailPractical note
PassportYour name must be spelled the same way on every other document.
Credit or debit cardMust work for international payments. Amazon may place a small authorization hold to check it.
Bank accountWhere sales proceeds are paid. For sellers in Azerbaijan this is often a foreign receiving account (explained below).
Proof of addressA bank or card statement from the last 180 days. The address must match the one you enter.
Phone and emailMust stay active for verification codes and Amazon requests.
Tax informationCompleted in the tax interview step in Seller Central.

The list comes from Amazon's seller registration guide. Keeping every document ready in one folder before you start makes the process much faster.

Should you choose the Individual or Professional plan?

If you are testing with a small number of items and do not need advertising tools, the Individual plan is cheaper: no monthly fee, just $0.99 per sale. For a serious business with FBA, ads and reports, you need the Professional plan at $39.99 per month. On both plans, category-based referral fees and other selling fees are charged separately.

How does Seller Central registration work, step by step?

Registration starts at sell.amazon.com and has roughly six stages: create the account, choose the business type, enter personal details, add payment and bank details, add store details and verify your identity. Tax information comes next. Individuals choose "None, I am an individual" as the business type. Every detail must match your documents.

  1. Create the account. Click "Sign up" on sell.amazon.com and set an email and password.
  2. Choose the business type. Without a company, select "None, I am an individual"; Amazon adjusts the form for individuals.
  3. Personal details. Enter your name, date of birth, citizenship and address exactly as in your passport.
  4. Card and bank. Add your international card and the account details where you will receive payouts.
  5. Store details. Enter a store name and a short description of what you plan to sell.
  6. Identity verification. Upload your passport and proof of address, then either take a photo of your face and ID or join a video call with an Amazon associate.
  7. Tax information. A non-US individual usually completes the IRS Form W-8BEN here, which certifies foreign status.

Most delays happen at identity verification, usually because the details on the documents do not match the form or the statement is older than 180 days.

How does Amazon pay sellers in Azerbaijan?

Amazon only pays out to bank accounts in supported countries, and Azerbaijan is not on that list. That is why sellers in Azerbaijan usually add US or other foreign account details from a service such as Payoneer to Seller Central as their deposit method. From there, money is withdrawn to a local bank card or account.

The current list of supported countries is on Amazon's disbursement page. Payoneer's Amazon page says that after you sign up you get receiving accounts in the currencies of the Amazon stores you sell in, and you add them in Seller Central under Settings → Account Info → Deposit Methods. Amazon's page also lists Hyperwallet as an alternative. We compare fees and the conditions for Azerbaijani residents in /en/blogs/payoneer-paypal-stripe-wise-azerbaijan-573.

An important rule: the account you add as a deposit method must be in your own name. Using someone else's account can cause problems during verification.

What should you do first after the account is approved?

As soon as the account is approved, finish your security and payment settings: turn on two-step verification, check that the deposit method was added correctly and the tax information was accepted, and keep your contact details current. Only then create your first listing and move on to an FBA shipment plan. This order reduces the chance of holds later.

  • Two-Step Verification: required to sign in to Seller Central; connect a phone or an authenticator app.
  • Payments and card: keep your card expiry date and bank details current, or payouts can stop.
  • Returns and shipping settings: if you use FBM, fill in your policies; with FBA, Amazon handles these.
  • Brand: if you plan to sell under your own brand, think early about a trademark for Amazon Brand Registry.

FBA or FBM: which is more realistic from Azerbaijan?

For a seller based in Azerbaijan, FBA is usually more realistic. With FBA, goods go from the supplier straight to an Amazon warehouse and Amazon delivers the orders. With FBM, you ship each order yourself, which is slow and expensive from Baku to a US buyer. FBM only makes sense if you have a reliable logistics partner in the US.

We explain how FBA works, its fees and its models in our What is Amazon FBA guide.

How much does it cost to sell on Amazon from Azerbaijan?

The main costs are the selling plan, referral fees, FBA fulfillment and storage fees, product cost, shipping and customs to the US, advertising and your payment provider's fees. Only the plan fee is fixed. The rest depends on the product's price, size, category and sales velocity, so calculate each product separately.

  • Plan: $0.99 per sale or $39.99 per month.
  • Referral fee: a percentage of the sale price, by category.
  • FBA fees: pick, pack and ship, plus monthly storage.
  • Logistics: shipping from the supplier to Amazon, plus a customs broker.
  • Advertising: almost always needed for a new product to be seen.
  • Currency and withdrawals: receiving-account and card withdrawal fees.

A practical tip: build a separate sheet for each product with the sale price, every Amazon fee, per-unit shipping and customs, the ad budget and currency fees. If the net margin is not clear on that sheet, do not rush to buy. In our consultations at DevCommerce, this calculation is always the first thing we do.

Do you have to open a company (LLC) to sell on Amazon?

No. The FAQ in Amazon's registration guide says you do not need to be an LLC or registered business to sell in the Amazon store; you can register as an individual. An LLC can offer some advantages for banking, payments and branding, but it creates extra reporting obligations in the US.

We cover the pros, costs and risks of an LLC in /en/blogs/do-you-need-a-us-llc-to-sell-on-amazon-577.

How do you choose a first product and ship it to Amazon?

A first product should be simple, small, light, unbreakable and free of brand restrictions. For each candidate, calculate the margin left after every fee, order a sample from the supplier and start with a small batch. If the goods enter the US from abroad, you or your customs broker must act as importer of record.

Under Amazon's import and export rules, Amazon does not act as importer of record for FBA inventory, so agree on the details with your forwarder and broker before shipping. You create the shipment plan in Seller Central, and Amazon provides the warehouse address and labels.

What mistakes do beginners from Azerbaijan make on Amazon?

The most common mistakes are registration details that do not match documents, an old statement or one in someone else's name, a card that only works locally, opening the account before setting up payouts, buying stock before the account is approved and not checking restricted categories. Each of these delays verification or raises costs.

  • Enter your address exactly as it appears on the statement.
  • Confirm with your bank that the card works for international online payments.
  • Open a receiving account before you register.
  • Order your first batch only after the account is fully verified.
  • Check whether the product's category needs approval.

Frequently asked questions

Can a citizen of Azerbaijan become an Amazon seller?

Yes. Azerbaijan is on Amazon's list of countries accepted for seller registration. Amazon requires residency in a listed country, a working phone number and an internationally chargeable credit card. You do not have to open a company.

What documents do I need for an Amazon seller account?

A passport, an email address, an internationally chargeable credit card, a bank account, a bank or card statement from the last 180 days and tax information. Company registrations also need a business document. All details must match your documents exactly.

How do I receive Amazon payouts in Azerbaijan?

Azerbaijan is not on the list of countries Amazon pays out to directly. Sellers usually add foreign receiving-account details from a service such as Payoneer to Seller Central, then withdraw the money to a local card or bank account.

How much does it cost per month to sell on Amazon?

The Professional plan is $39.99 per month. The Individual plan has no monthly fee and charges $0.99 per item sold. Both plans add category-based referral fees, plus fulfillment and storage fees if you use FBA.

Why is my Amazon account verification taking long?

The usual reasons are details that do not match your passport or statement, a statement older than 180 days or a card that is not enabled for international payments. Identity is verified by photo or by a video call with an Amazon associate.

Do I need an LLC to sell on Amazon from Azerbaijan?

No. Amazon's official registration guide says an LLC or registered business is not required; you choose "None, I am an individual" as the business type. An LLC can help in some cases, but it adds reporting obligations in the US.
